Hell Rising Up

It’s like hell rising up

Living in Exile

Empty all the worthless while

Turmoil in a tempest cup

Everything bad suffocating me

Equivocating emotions on the edge

Walking time’s lonely ledge

Couldn’t be my cup of tea

Swatches of lively feelings

Mostly a grave of painful slave

Fulfillment I crave

What are the divine’s dealings?

Revealing nothing… 

Summer’s darkness silently invisible

Life’s retching sting

The pain not divisible

Fear

Fear

Terror in fifth gear

To crash and can’t steer

With no gear

Can’t see or hear

Fear

Primordial and clear

A pure emotion

Needing the commotion

Frozen in a crowd

The voice overheard too sharply loud

Fear

A frozen deer

Waiting for the dog to pounce

Inwardly; not an ounce

Fear

Anticipating the jeer

The gang of laughing sleepy kids

In the playground called life

Cuts life a knife

Fear

Dog

God

Ancients

I hear the ancients calling

From time immortal they’ve been preserved

Mummified and encased in chambers subterranean

Their tombs still conserved

The call to prayer echoes across the land

The sound of pharos buried in sand

Admire their vaults of treasures and gold masks gem laden

Ramses, Cleopatra, and Tut ankh kamon

We’re grave robbers

Let’s plow the graves of Londoners

And examine their bones

Snapshot in time eternal

Lime on the walls of the pyramid

Five hundreds years made the Americas

A thousand made the old world

Two thousand made Christianity

Three thousand made the Romans and Greeks

Four made the Egyptians

Five thousand made India and China

Nine thousand nine hundred and ninety nine
